The Criminal Practice - July 17, 2017 to October 6, 2017 for Entry-Level Criminal Defense Staff Attorney Positions for the Fall 2018 Class

The 2017-2018 hiring season for entry-level Criminal Defense staff attorney positions in the Fall 2018 Criminal Defense Class begins on July 17, 2017 and ends on October 6, 2017. All applications for these positions must be submitted no later than October 6, 2017. Applicants will be considered for entry level Criminal Defense staff attorney positions if they have no more than three years of experience. Positions at the Legal Aid Society are highly competitive. If other Criminal Practice staff attorney openings arise during the 2017-2018 hiring season - including openings for experienced Criminal Defense staff attorneys, Parole Revocation Defense staff attorneys, and Criminal Appeals staff attorneys - these positions will be posted on The Legal Aid Society's website (www.legal-aid.org) in the Diversity and Careers section. Applicants for entry level positions for the Fall 2018 class are encouraged to apply early. Late applicants will not be considered.

Juvenile Rights Practice - July 17, 2017 to January 1, 2018 for Entry-Level Juvenile Rights Staff Attorney Positions for the Fall 2017 Class

The 2017-2018 hiring season for entry level Juvenile Rights staff attorney positions in the Fall 2018 Juvenile Rights Class begins on July 17, 2017 and ends on January 1, 2018. All applications for these positions must be submitted no later than January 1, 2018. If additional Juvenile Rights openings arise for entry level positions during the 2017-2018 hiring season after the Fall 2018 Class is hired, these openings will be filled from the October 1, 2017 - January 1, 2018 applicant pool. As openings arise during the 2017-2018 hiring season for experienced Juvenile Rights staff attorneys, these positions will be posted on The Legal Aid Society's website (www.legal-aid.org) in the Diversity and Careers section. Applications for these positions will only be accepted in response to a specific posting. Interested applicants should check The Legal Aid Society's website for any open positions.

Offers for entry level Juvenile Rights staff attorney positions in the Fall 2018 Class will be made on or around April 2018 after the New York State budget has been adopted.

Offers for Fall Semester, Spring Semester, and Summer law student internships will be made on a rolling basis during each hiring period. Therefore, law student internship applicants are encouraged to apply at the beginning of the hiring period.
