The Juvenile Rights Practice Launches

The Juvenile Rights Division was established concurrently with the Family Court in New York City. The creation of the two entities was the result of a study by Charles Schinitsky, a Legal Aid Society attorney. Schinitsky was the first Attorney-in- Charge of our Juvenile Rights Division, which represented children five years before the U.S. Supreme Court mandated this representation in In re Gault.
