Our First Federal Appearance Secures Sailors’ Rights

The impressment of sailors became a federal offense. Through the efforts of Legal Aid Society lawyers from our Seaman’s Branch, legislation was enacted by Congress providing for better protection of seafaring men. It was The Legal Aid Society’s first appearance in the federal arena.
