LAS Blasts Fordham Manor Landlord Over Derelict Building Conditions

The Legal Aid Society is turning up the heat on a Fordham Manor landlord who has left his tenants for nearly a year without cooking gas. Residential and commercial renters at 2558 Grand Concourse in the Bronx were left unable to cook food in their homes as far back as Thanksgiving 2019 due to the negligent operation of Stellar Management, who – rather than actively address the issues suffered by tenants – have lawyered up in an attempt to circumvent taking responsibility for their derelict property.

Additionally, investigation into the gas situation brought to light further issues involving other examples of unfinished repair work and infestation in the building, according to the Norwood News.

While a judge has issued an order instructing Stellar Management to correct, by specific dates, all of the conditions and violations raised, the various problems plaguing the property promise to drag on due to the legal maneuvers of the management company. The Legal Aid Society is representing the tenants in court.

“Restoring gas and addressing the other outstanding conditions in the building are the landlord’s responsibility,” said Benjamin Seibel, a staff attorney at The Legal Aid Society, “and we intend to use all available legal avenues to hold the landlord to their obligations.”
