The Legal Aid Society lauded Albany for enacting the NYS Tenants Safe Harbor Act into law tonight. This legislation will provide desperately needed rent relief to more than 100,000 tenants impacted by the COVID-19 crisis across New York. It would also strengthen Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 90-day moratorium on evictions by prohibiting landlords from evicting tenants for non-payment of rent.
