Op-Ed: Make the Coronavirus Eviction Moratorium Real

Jason Wu, a housing attorney in The Legal Aid Society’s civil practice, issued a piece in the New York Daily News informing tenants throughout the city about their rights under New York City’s emergency eviction moratorium. Jason continues to get calls from tenants concerned about eviction proceedings.

“Landlords do not have discretion here,” Jason wrote. “[Tenants] are not beholden to the whims of their landlord. An eviction moratorium is clear, and is exactly what it sounds like: no evictions. All tenants are protected by the New York eviction moratorium.”
