Listen: LAS Talks Rent Moratorium, Tenant Issues on The Brian Lehrer Show

Judith Goldiner, Attorney-in-Charge of the Civil Law Reform Unit at The Legal Aid Society, joined The Brian Lehrer Show to discuss the Federal and New York moratorium on evictions and the need for lawmakers to implement a true eviction freeze which covers all evictions – including pre-pandemic and holdover cases – through the end of the pandemic.

Goldiner also called on Governor Cuomo and the New York State Legislature to amend New York’s rent relief program which has so far only doled out a fraction of funds to families in need. If Albany fails to allocate the remaining $60 million in rent funds, those precious dollars will be forfeited back to the federal government.
